Response to his article about Easter

Mr. Gergon, March 30, 2020 I t seems that all of your columns are written with great hatred of our current President. In today’s it was deriding his hope that churches would be filled on Easter Sunday. Don’t we all. As of yesterday the order to remain in isolation was extended to the end of April, so you were a day late. What is wrong with any President expressing hope? Have you forgotten “All we have to fear is fear itself?” That was said when our country was in far worse shape than today. It didn’t solve anything but it expressed hope which was greatly needed. The Arizona Star loves your articles as they hate Trump also and are dedicated to his defeat as you are. As of tomorrow I have cancelled my account. I just don’t need this on a daily basis. Jack B. Coronavirus Pandemic

I, like most everyone am hankering down at home, trying to keep busy doing something plus exercising. It makes no difference to the world at large what I do or not do but it is devastating to think of the millions worldwide who are prevented from going to work resulting in unbelievable costs of society. Trillions are being lost. Our government is about to distribute Trillions to try to keep some semblance of order. Even that is now subject to politics which to me is tragic. From everything I have heard the people most in danger are old folks like me. It appears the over 60 should seek refuge. Others who have contacted the virus seem to have recovered without a serum that is trying to be developed. My simple solution is to confine all of us old folks and reopen schools, restaurants, and the entertainment industry for the rest of the population. Why should the world come to a halt because of us? Our country is in great danger from deficit anyway of over $22 Trillion. When this is all over how will we ever recover? These are just the ramblings of an old codger who should know better than to share his thoughts.

Biden, Sanders Debate

They would stop fracking and raise the corporate tax rate back up to 35% from 21%. Fracking has enabled America to become the largest oil and natural gas producing country in the world lowering our dependence on the OPEC countries and replacing coal thereby reducing carbon emissions dramatically. Russia and Saudi Arabia are pumping out maximum oil production. It matters little who produces and without oil and gas our economy cannot function. Global warming is a concern and must be addressed forcefully but not this way. The corporate tax was passed to create a profit incentive to produce in America rather than overseas. It is a major factor for companies to consider when deciding where to locate. They claim they care for the working people, making this change will result in more job losses not gain. Sure hope Americans understand when they enter the voting booth in November
