Nike Shoe Decision

The article by Howard Fisher-Capitol Media Services, on the front page in the third paragraph states” That banner may or may not have been designed by Betsy Ross”. The title starts “Ducey blocks $1 Million grant….Tim Steller writes “Ducey strikes culture-warrior pose….” The emphasis of both were to condemn the reaction to the Nike Decision to not sell a new shoe designed patriotically in red, white and blue with Betsy’s 13 Colonies circle on the flag. Colin Kapernnick deemed it offensive due to the fact that slavery existed at that time. This has just been another opportunity to ridicule those of us who have lived lives being proud of our heritage. Slavery was in existence not only in America but throughout the world, and just to elucidate your readers it still exists today. We know there were discrepancies between “All men are created equal” and the existence of slavery. It was the intent and ultimate goal which could not have been possible to create a new nation as the South would never have joined the Union. This has nothing to do with Ducey or Trump. It has everything to do with the fact that fewer and fewer Americans take pride in their heritage. If you are not proud of your country would you fight to defend it, would you do all you can to support it right or wrong? This is the issue not Ducey or Trump. Jack B. Walters July 3, 2019
